Ball Of The Century: Ryan Harris Dismissal Of Alastair Cook
ESPN Cricinfo has given the ‘ball of the century’ award to Ryan Harris’ dismissal of Alastair Cook. The former left-handed opener of Englan had no answer to counter the swing from the Australian pacer.
The England opener, Alastair Cook came to open the second innings for his team. However, the right-arm pacer, Ryan Harris came from over the wicket and disturbed the top of the off-stump.
The wicket on the very ball of the innings changed the course of the game as the England batsmen lost their confidence. On the other hand, the Aussies have got the much-needed confidence at the very first ball of the innings.
Ryan Harris has not been the fastest of all the great Australian pacers. But, he could struggle the batsmen with his control over his line and lengths with a swing. Glenn McGrath had been the same kind of bowler who does not have the pace but struggled the opponents with his swing and lengths.
However, unlike McGrath, Ryan could not showcase his consistency throughout his career. Harris could not cement his place in the Australian side due to the same reason.
The former Australian pacer, Ryan Harris has also said that they wanted Cook to play at the front foot. So, the plan was bowl at the middle and the off-stump. But, the ball has swung after it has bounced off the pitch.
