Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020: Top players who went unsold
There were 157 cricketers in the players’ draft of Bangabandhu T20 Cup. As each team took 16 players in their squad, total 80 players were sold in the players’ draft.
But big names like Shahriar Nafees, Abdur Razzak, Jubair Hossain Likhon, Shadman Islam, Junaid Siddique, Naeem Islam went unsold.
35-year-old left-arm batsman Shahriar Nafees and 33-year-old left-arm batsman Junaid Siddique did well in the fitness test for the Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Both were in the ‘D’ category of the draft. But no team showed interest in them.
Junaid scored 97 runs in a match in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) which came to a standstill due to coronavirus this year in March. Nafees was last seen in this year’s BCL.
33-year old all-rounder Naeem, who played 8 Tests, 59 ODIs and 10 T20s for the national team was also left out in the player’s draft.
Besides, 25-year-old opener Shadman also did not get a team among the batsmen. The opener, who played 6 Tests for the national team, last played for Rangpur Rangers in the BPL.
38-year old spinner Abdur Razzak also remained on the list of unsold players. He played his last T20 match in 2019 DPL T20.
Also leg-spinner Jubair Hossain Likhon went unsold. He played his last competitive match about a year ago. Apart from the match against Zimbabwe in 2015, he didn’t play any recognized T20 match.
