Bangladesh suffered a miserable 7-wicket defeat in the recently-concluded Antigua Test against West Indies. Due to the failure of the batting unit, Bangladesh could not put up any competition in the match. However, Bangladesh bowlers bowled very well in the match.
Shakib Al Hasan, however, did not let bowlers’ success remain hidden. In a formal conversation during the award ceremony, Shakib said that he was satisfied and happy with the performance of the bowling unit.
Shakib said, “Happy with the way the bowlers performed. All our bowlers bowled their hearts out. Batting let us down and hopefully we come back well in the next game.”
Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain’s tight bowling, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 4 wickets; Khaled Ahmed’s outstanding bowling at the beginning of the West Indies second innings – there were some significant performances in bowling to remember and get positive sights for the next Test.
“That one session killed the game for us. Happy with the way the bowlers performed. (Batting failures) Not acceptable, we have been doing that quite regularly in the Tests. Batsmen need to find ways to score runs. That's a simple equation that we need to work on. (On the partnership with Nurul) A lot to be gained from that, Nurul was under pressure, the way he applied himself showed a lot of character. Some of the other batters can take the same approach and play good cricket in the next game,” Shakib added.
