Bangladesh claim big win against Canada in ICC Under-19 WC

In the Group C match of the Under-19 World Cup, Bangladesh Under-19 team have beaten Canada Under-19 by 66 runs packing up Canada for 198 runs chasing 264 runs scored by Bangladesh after batting first at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on Monday.

The brownie point of the match is a wonderful all-round show from Afif Hossain Dhrubo. The 18 year old left hander pierced through the opposition batting line up, conceded 43 runs in 10 overs to claim 5 wickets after scoring the second highest score for the team.

The score made by Bangladesh Under-19 team has been well defended by the bowlers. Although Canada Under-19 batted through almost fifty overs, they were never been in the real chase for a win as Bangladeshi bowlers plucked wickets regularly.

The highest 63 runs in the Canadian innings was scored by Arslan Khan who became also one of the victims of Afif.

For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud took 2 wickets for 23 runs while Qazi Onik, Tipu Sultan and Saif Hassan pocketed one each.

In the earlier half of the match, a brilliant ton by Towhid Hridoy steered Bangladesh innings to stead past 250 runs batting 50 overs.

Towhid procured 122 runs in 126 deliveries with 9 fours and a six. Afif Hossain Dhruobo scored 50 runs, the second highest in the lineup. Afif hit 5 fours and a six in his innings.

The magnificent 111 run fourth wicket partnership between Towhid Hridoy and Afif Hossain came after quite a disastrous start Bangladesh made losing the first wicket in 1 run and second wicket in 29 runs. The young Tigers lost first three wickets before adding a hundred on the board.
