Bangladesh cricketers arrive in Sri Lanka under tight security
As the first foreign squad to visit Sri Lanka since the brutal Easter attacks earlier this year, Bangladesh cricket team, under high security, has arrived in the island country on Saturday.
The caliber of security that is generally provided for dignitaries of visiting states has been deployed for Bangladesh team. The hotel in which the cricketers will stay and the vehicles in which they are carried are cordoned by armed forces.
Sri Lanka has been under the state of emergency since the 21st April bombings that killed more than 250 people.
A police officer said,“We have special security arrangements at match venues too.”
Bangladesh’s tour to Sri Lanka consists of three one-day internationals scheduled on July 26, 28 and 31 at the Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo.
Sri Lanka are going to have more foreign visitors as New Zealand will arrive next month to play two Tests and three Twenty20 matches.
