Bangladesh get one point from 3-0 sweep

Bangladesh won the first ODI in Mirpur by 28 runs and won the next two ODIs in Chattogram by seven wickets each. This is their tenth ODI series win over Zimbabwe and fourth whitewash.

The Tigers had 92 points before the start of this series. They gained one point from their performance in Asia Cup where they became runners-up.

A 3-0 win against below-ranked Zimbabwe gave only one point to Bangladesh. They now have a difference of seven with sixth-ranked side Australia, who are with exactly 100 points. Meanwhile, Bangladesh are 14 points ahead of number eight Sri Lanka (79).

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, have lost one point from the tour which means they are 52 from 53, increasing the difference with no.10 Afghanistan’s 67.

England are still topping the ODI rankings table with 126 points. India are second with 122 points. While New Zealand (112), South Africa (110) and Pakistan (101) are placed third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Bangladesh’s next series is against Windies whom they will play three ODIs at home. While Australia will host South Africa and Pakistan will play New Zealand in UAE. Along with winning over the Windies, Bangladesh will also hope Australia and Pakistan to lose majority of the matches in order to move forward or reduce the gap in rankings.
