Bangladesh move to No.7 in T20I rankings
Bangladesh have moved one place up to number seven in the ICC T20I rankings following the series between West Indies and Sri Lanka.
Reigning T20 World Cup champions West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan have been very tight on the table. Bangladesh were No.8 at the start of WI-SL series.
Hosts West Indies, who started the series at No.10, have gone up to eight with a 2-1 victory against Sri Lanka, who have slipped down to ten from seven.
Bangladesh have 229 ratings while West Indies, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka – all have 228 points a piece. Ireland (11) and Zimbabwe (12) have 190 each.
England retain the No.1 position with 275 ratings, having a difference of seven ratings to No.2 India’s 268. Australia (267 ratings) moved down to No.3 following a 2-3 defeat to New Zealand (5th, 253) in the recent tour.
More T20I action is coming up: India vs England five-match series, three-match series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the UAE, and New Zealand and Bangladesh.
India, the hosts for this year’s T20 World Cup, will need a series win of at least 4-1 to displace England as the number one.
If Bangladesh are to hold No.7 spot, they must at least beat New Zealand at least once and hope Afghanistan win by a margin of no more than 2-1.
