‘Bangladesh need to play more Test matches’ – Ravi Shastri
The performance of Bangladesh in Tests has been shaky for the last 19 years since getting the Test status. In recent times it has been traditionally shocking. So India coach Ravi Shastri has come up with suggestions for Bangladesh to do better in Tests.
The recent misery is that Bangladesh had been whitewashed in a two-match Test series against India. Two matches lost by an innings. The performance was horribly bad. Spectators were also upset that Eden’s historic Pink Ball Test ended in just two days and forty-five minutes.
India’s head coach Ravi Shastri considered them a strong team on their home ground. But according to him, Bangladesh have to learn to play better outside the country.
After the match on Sunday, Shastri said,
“Bangladesh need to play more matches. They are very strong in their country field. But they have to learn to do well outside the country. They did not get two cricketers like Shakib and Tamim. Mushfiqur has fought a lot. If Bangladesh should be given more opportunities to play, then they will improve. If their pace attack is strengthened, then they will do well outside the country and can compete further.”
In the last Test before this series, Bangladesh lost 224 to Afghanistan in their home. They also lost two Tests on the New Zealand tour earlier this year. And the performance of Bangladesh in the Kolkata Test added more frustration to this. So despite Shastri’s suggestion, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar almmed Bangladesh before the match yesterday morning.
