Bangladesh square T20I series
After asking to bat first, the visitors put a total of 171 for 5 at the end of 20 overs. Tamim Iqbal scored highest 74 runs off 44 balls and Shakib Al Hasan played a cameo off 60 runs from 38 deliveries. In reply, the hosts required 15 runs off last over of their innings but they fall 12 runs short as they finished their innings 159/9 at the end of allotted overs.
In Bangladesh’s very first match at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, the visitors failed to get a proper start as Liton Das got out in the second over of the match. Later Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar also got out cheaply as Tigers lost 3 wickets for 48 runs in the eighth over of the match.
Shakib alongside Tamim then made a 90 runs stand and became the saviours for the visitors. Tamim picked up his sixth T20Is fifty. After completing fifty he became furious and started to play some cameo. He took 22 runs with 3 sixes and a six off Andre Russell’s over but dismissed in the last ball of theat particular over.
After his departure Shakib started charging Windies bolwers and brought up his 7th T20Is fifty. In the 20th over, he was caught at long off. Before getting out he scored 60 off 38 balls with 9 fours and 1 six. Later Mahmudullah Riyad and Ariful Haque finished the innings by putting a total of 171 runs for 5 on the scoreboard.
In reply of Bangladesh innings, Windies started to lose wickets in a regular interval despite scoring quick runs. They lost Evin Lewis, Russell, Marlon Samuels and Dinesh Ramdin’s wickets within 8 overs just for 58 runs. However later, Rovman Powell and A Flecther made a 58 runs partnership and fought hard to rescue their side.
But their plan went in vain as both of the batsmen dismissed for 43 runs each. In visitors bowling attack, Mustafiz and Apu both bagged 3 wickets each while Shakib grabbed 2 wickets.
To be noted, the series decider ODI will be held at the same venue on Monday.
