Bangladesh suffer a big blow as Shakib picked up an injury against Ireland

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan suffers an injury in a comfortable 6-wicket victory against   host Ireland in the Tri-nation series on Wednesday, May 15.

Shakib laid down because of the side strain pain

He has been driven away from the field while batting on 50 not out against. But at the first sight, it was seemed that the injury was not much serious.

After the match, the team management revealed that Shakib Al Hasan might experience a side strain injury.  The positive thing is it doesn’t take much time to recover from the side strain injury. But nothing can be assured at this moment before the official statement from team management.

Chasing the target of 293 runs, Shakib came to bat in 17th over when opener Tamim Iqbal got out scoring 57 runs off 53 balls. Shakib batted much fluently from the beginning. But during the drinks break after 32 overs, Shakib appeared to have felt some inconvenience. And the main blow came in the 36th over of the match. Shakib felt really discomfort and lied down because of the pain.

Physio Thihan Chandramohan came to the field instantly and after some stretching Shakib came back to his feet again to continue his innings. But after facing five more deliveries in that over, Shakib left the field with serious discomfort. Later, it was informed that he decided to leave the field for a precautionary measure ahead of the World Cup. Shakib picked up his 42nd half-century in ODI before leaving the field.

The team management and the physio expected that it was not a severe one. The team management will evaluate the circumstance Wednesday night before giving an update Thursday. But he’s now the major doubt for the Tri-series final against West Indies on Friday, May 17.

Shakib’s fans and followers will must hope that the injury won’t be a serious one as Shakib is one of the most important player in Bangladesh team ahead of the biggest event of cricket ICC World Cup 2019.
