Bangladesh suffer heartbreak as India win U-19 Asia Cup
So close yet so far for the young Bangladesh side as they failed to chase down the small target of 107. The young Tigers came as close as scoring 101 before being bundled out in 33 overs while chasing India’s 106-run total. Coming in to chase the paltry total, Bangladesh lost four of their top-order batsmen for just 16 runs after 4.1 overs.
None of the batsman except skipper Akbar Ali could stay at the crease for a while and crumble under pressure. Mrittunjoy eased a pressure a bit with 2 fours and 1 six before the rain interruption.
Bangladesh lost the momentum after the resumption of the play as they lost two wickets in two overs. Tanzim Hasan and Sakib Hasan showed some fight and resistance, but in the end they fell short of only 5 runs.
Earlier, India elected to bat first after winning the toss. However, things were not looking good for Dhruv Jurel’s side as India were left reeling on three for eight after 5.1 overs. However, a 57-ball 33 from skipper Jurel and Karan Lal’s 43-ball 37 helped them to cross the three figures mark. They scored 106 runs in the end. Mrittunjoy and Shamim picked up three wickets each.
