Bangladesh take wickets but SL lead past 300
Bangladesh have picked up wickets at the end but Sri Lanka have taken their lead to over 300 runs in the second innings of the second Test at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
Sri Lanka were 87/3 at tea. Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck soon after the break to pick up his first wicket in the match. Imrul Kayes took a good catch at short mid-wicket to dismiss Dimuth Karunaratne for 32.
Mustafizur Rahman looked dangerous in the first part of post tea session. But he was unlucky not to get a wicket as captain Dinesh Chandimal and Roshen Silva kept on extending the lead. They put on 51 runs for the fifth-wicket.
Chandimal fell for 54-ball 30 being trapped lbw on a dying short delivery from Miraz. Niroshan Dickwella came in and gave two opportunities to Bangladeshi fielders. But Abdur Razzak and later on substitute fielder Tanbir Hayder couldn’t get hold of their chances.
Mustafizur came to bowl his third spell at stroke of stumps and sent back Dilruwan Perera and Akila Dananjaya on consecutive balls to bring the Tigers back in the game. He missed out on a hat-trick by bowling down the legside to no.10 Suranga Lakmal.
Sri Lanka lost five wickets for 113 runs in the final session of day two. They are 200/8 in 62 overs at stumps, leading by 312 runs. Roshen brought up his second half-century in the match. He is unbeaten on 94-ball 58 including 9 fours. Lakmal is on 7*.
Sri Lanka 222 and 200/8 in 62 overs (Roshen 58*, Karunaratne 32*; Mustafizur 3/35, Miraz 2/29)
Bangladesh 110 allout in 45.4 overs (Miraz 38*, Liton 25; Dananjaya 3/20, Lakmal 3/25)
