Bangladesh to have new head coach after Nidahas Trophy

Bangladesh has been journeying through international schedules without a head coach since the departure of Chandika Hathurusingha. After the tri-nation series, bilateral Test and T20I series at home, the Tigers are playing in the Nidahas Trophy without undertaking of a coach although pace bowling consultant Courtney Walsh had been given the responsibility of taking care of the whole team in the ongoing Sri Lanka tour.

But after the majestic win against the hosts in the second match, BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon informed that the board will appoint a head coach right after the tournament.

Board President also said they are taking time to in order to make a right choice for the team.

“We will go for the final decision after the series; there were calls for interviewing every candidate. We, the board officials are all staying in here, so it is not viable to make any decision right now,” he said.

“There will be calls for two to three persons; hope everything would be finalized within this month. The selected candidate would supposed to join with the team by April,” Nazmul Hasan Papon said.

When he was asked about the probable nationality of the next head coach, the board president only assured that there will be no Sri Lankans.

“It is hard to say now; they are all from different regions. But no Sri Lankans would be there,” he added.
