Bangladesh to tour New Zealand in March next year
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) confirmed their series against West Indies, Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Their home season begins on November 27 according to the schedule.
It has been almost seven months since Bangladesh last played international cricket. They were set to tour Sri Lanka next month, but the ray of hope diminished as the series got postponed once again. When Bangladesh will return to international cricket again? The question now stands more than ever.
However, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have confirmed on Tuesday that they will invite Bangladesh in March next year to play three ODIs and three T20Is. The board announced the fixture with the rest of the schedule of their home season, which begins on November 27.
New Zealand’s home season will begin with the T20I series against West Indies followed by two Tests, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship. They will also play two Tests against Pakistan next up which will also be part of the tournament.
Before playing against Bangladesh in March, the Blackcaps will play 5 T20Is against their arch-rivals Australia. Australia play their five T20Is from February 21 to March 7 while Bangladesh start their series on March 13 with three ODIs, followed by three T20Is.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said he is thrilled to be able to announce the upcoming schedule and thanked the government for making a situation of being able to play cricket in the country again.
“I’m thrilled to be making this announcement today, given the uncertainty and difficulties over the past six or seven months. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the New Zealand government for helping us navigate this complex process, as we do to our commercial partners and especially Spark Sport and TVNZ, for their patience and understanding,” he said.
