Bangladesh U-19 team to return home on Wednesday
Bangladesh U-19 cricket team has achieved one of the best achievements in the country’s cricket history. They have been the champion of ICC Under-19 World Cup for the first time after defeating the Indian youth team by 3 wickets on Sunday, February 9 at Potchefstroom.
Even though the final match has been on Sunday, the youth Tigers will have to wait till Wednesday to return home according to the pre-schedule. The world champions will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on February 12 (Wednesday) at 8:10am.
The youths will travel to Bangladesh tomorrow (Tuesday) with the World Cup trophy. They will step foot in the country on Wednesday morning after a 12-hour journey.
Khaled Mahmud Sujon informs that today in the morning. However, he himself is returning home tonight (Monday).
Chairman of Game Development Committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Khaled Mahmud flew to South Africa ahead of the semifinal match to inspire the youth team. The Game Development Committee works mainly with the Under-19, HP or Academy teams.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon could not go to South Africa because of his treatment in England. He was supposed to attend South Africa from the semifinals. As it turned out, Khaled Mahmud was the only one of the BCB directors to be with the youth team in South Africa.
