Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are the two regular members of the Bangladesh team in Tests. These two important members of the team are currently out due to injuries. So, Bangladesh will have to play Chattogram Test without them.
Bangladesh will 'miss' Miraz and Taskin in the Chattogram Test starting May 15, said captain Mominul Haque. However, Mominul is hopeful that those who will get the opportunity in their place will prove their ability.
The captain said,
"They were instrumental in New Zealand winning the Mount Maunganui Test. We will miss both of them. Miraz also bats well, an all-rounder. But it is a good opportunity for those who will play in their place.”
Miraz and Taskin are now an integral part of the team. The captain hopes that those who will get the opportunity in their absence will play their best.
“They were performing in such a way that no one else was given a chance. Those who will play in their place will want to give the message that we are in a good position. We have faith in them. Shakib bhai was not in the team many times, but we had faith in the player who played in his place. I will always show this faith. Even if I don't have faith, I can't show it as a captain. There is support for those,” he added.
Meanwhile, it is unclear whether Nayeem Hasan, who got a chance in the Test squad after a long absence, will be in the XI. “Whether he [Nayeem] will play or not will be understood tomorrow. If he plays, he knows his role. InshaAllah, he will be able to do it,” Mominul further said.
