BCB changes schedule for BAN-WI warm-up match
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has changed the time for four-day warm-up match which is scheduled to take place on January 28 before the Test series. Bangladesh and West Indies will play three ODIs and two Tests which will start from January 18.
The warm-up match is supposed to take place from January 28 to January 31 at MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram. But this match is going to be three days from four days because the mayoral election will be held in Chattogram on January 27 and the polling station will be at MA Aziz Stadium.
So the venue will not be ready in one day. That’s why the length of the warm-up match has to be reduced. The matter has been confirmed by the BCB Grounds Committee.
The preparation match will be started on January 29 and end on January 31.
West Indies will arrive on January 10. They will play a 50-over warm-up at BKSP on January 18 after completing seven-day quarantine period. The ODIs will be held at Mirpur on Jan 20 and 22, and in Chattogram on Jan 25.
Bangladesh and West Indies will lock horns in the two Tests, starting from February 3 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS), Chattogram. The second Test will be at Mirpur on February 11-15.
The Test matches will hold the significance of World Test Championship, while the ODI series will be the two teams’ first World Cup Super League series.
The tour will mark Bangladesh’s first international series since March, when Zimbabwe came to play one-off Test, three ODIs and two T20Is. Bangladesh had to postpone home series against Australia (two Tests) and New Zealand (two Tests) due to pandemic.
