BCB confident of playing three pacers
Bangladesh is scheduled to play a three match Test series against Sri Lanka in October. Although, Bangladesh Pacers are prominent in shorter formats, but they often suffer to shine in the longer version specially in away matches. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning with three Pacers to use in the series . Team management is confident with these three pacers.
Although, the squad has not been announced yet, but Akram Khan, head of the BCB’s cricket management department, has hinted that a 21-22-member squad will be announced for the Bangladesh team’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Therefore, it’s not clear still how many pacers will be in the squad.
Meanwhile, Ebadat Hossain and Abu Zayed Chowdhury are doing very well in the last few series. It’s speculated that the duo could be in the squad for sure but speculation grows for the other pacer. Chief selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu told the media today,
“But now there are some pace bowlers whom we are preparing for Test cricket. There is a list of 4-5 pacers in our tally. It’s being played back and forth from there. ‘
It’s often seen that Bangladesh team created the squad with two ordinary fast bowlers while playing in subcontinental countries. However, the team management are confident of playing three fast bowlers in the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
“We have two fast bowlers in the subcontinent because of the team combination. When we for away series, we think of three pacers. So this combination will be constant with the team management.
Even then, I think the pace bowlers we have, have the ability to play with three fast bowlers. We have that confidence, “Nannu added.
