BCB hopeful of Shakib playing in Asia Cup
On Saturday, Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said they are highly hopeful for Shakib Al Hasan to joining in the preparation camp for the forthcoming Asia Cup.
The injured all-rounder is now staying in Meccah, Saudi Arabia to perform Holy Hajj.
Minhajul Abedin Nannu, the BCB Chief Selector, therefore said,
‘We do not have any update of surgery yet, so we have not thought of the replacement to be honest.”
The world number one all-rounder has been selected in the preliminary squad consisting of 31 members.
The Asia Cup 2018 is scheduled to begin from September 15 and will end at 28th of that month.
BCB chief selector further said, “We will start thinking about it as soon as we have an update of his surgery. The camp starts on August 27 and we hope he will be able to join the camp.”
Before flying for Saudi Arabia, Shakib hinted that he might skip Asia Cup to correct his injured finger through surgery. He afflicted the injury during the tri-series final against Sri Lanka in January this year.
He also missed the following two-match Test series and two T20Is against the island nation.
