Domingo is the new head coach
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced in a meeting on Saturday that Russell Domingo is the new head coach of Bangladesh. He was picked over the likes of Chandika Hathurusingha, Mike Hesson and Grant Flower.

When asked why Domingo was preferred over the other candidates, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon said he will be available straight away and they liked his passion and coaching philosophy.

“It was a very tough decision to take. There were 3 people who were on the race and deserved to be. Many coaches wanted the job, but most of them will not be able to join before the next 3-5 months. Domingo can join straight away and he can work full time. Apart from that, there were a few other reasons.”

“We have been very impressed with his passion and coaching philosophy. He has a clear idea of what is required to take the team forward,” BCB president said.

BCB have signed Domingo on a two-year contract. He will arrive in Bangladesh on 21 August to take charge of the team. The former SA coach led the team to the semi-finals of the ICC World T20 2014 and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2015.
