BCB president not satisfied with Taskin-Mustafizur’s performance

With only one match left, Bangladesh didn’t see a win yet in this tour. The injury problems has also been far too many. BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon informed that he is disappointed with Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed’s performance.

After the end of the first T20I, BCB President said to a reporter: “Rubel is bowling like before. Mashrafe is same like before too. The problem has been with the other two bowlers. In the last 4 years, they are the ones who brought breakthroughs for us.”

Among them one is Taskin. He said: “From the beginning I am seeing that Taskin bowls very fast. All of a sudden, his line-length has been totally poor. Not only in this series, this is happening from long time now. His speed also decreased. We will analyze what kind of problem he is facing after he comes back.”

When asked who is the other bowler, Papon said: “He is Mustafizur. He is our best bowler, we have no doubt in that. He is not bowling too bad, but his cutters are not working like before. His line length and speed is fine. We had been told before that it will take 1 year to get his old form back. We have nothing to worry about him. I hope he will soon get back to his old touch.”

Papon also said that he saw fighting spirit fron the team in the 1st T20I: “We were not playing like we play. The team’s confidence was not really up to the mark. Before this match I said to them that play like before which I am used to see. It doesn’t matter that we are losing with a big margin, but we are giving up even before the start of the match.”

He added: “We can challenge the opponent, this gesture was not seen. I said to show then that they can challenge the opponent. They played well because of this. After the match I texted Shakib “well played”. Then he said “you said we played well, but we weren’t able to win the match.”
