BCB to host World XI vs Asia XI matches in 2020

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will host two T20Is between World XI and Asia Cup in March next year.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced that they are set to host two T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI as part of the nationwide celebrations to commemorate the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BCB president Nazmul Hossain Papon has informed that he will look for the best players available for both sides and expects to get the desired players.

“There will be a matter of availability if they [the players] have international duties. I think only two teams will be busy at the time, but they won’t be playing T20s, so we might get their T20 players. We are looking for the best players among the current lot, and because the games will have international status, everyone will be serious about it,” the board president said.

Papon also informed that both the T20Is will get International status and it got confirmed during last week’s ICC meeting.

They made a special dispensation for Bangladesh, but they said it is only a one-off that such a match will get international status.

The matches are set to take place on March 18 and 21 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
