However, Cricket Operations chairman Akram Khan has revealed that they will prioritize the inspiring man’s opinion in this regard.
According to Akram, there is nothing negativity in it as every board around the world usually takes a long term plan when any big tournament is approaching. He further claimed that even the successful captain like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, megastar like Sachin Tendulkar or Rickey Ponting also had faced the reality.
“Whatever decision the board takes, they will give Mashrafe’s opinion a highest priority,” Akram said.
“He is the man behind our recent success. But the board has the right to discuss about the future of any player. There is nothing negative in it. We are giving the 2019 World Cup highest priority and want to form a good team to attain a best result. Mashrafe’s input, his thinking, is also important in this regard.”
The former Bangladesh skipper also informed that after the team’s coach and other staffs land in Dhaka following their holiday, he will sit with all of them to discuss about the next action plan.
“There is plan to how we could do well in English condition in the next World Cup. We want to prepare our players that way. There are also some good players in the pipeline who deserve a call in the national team. These players should be given chance to gain experience ahead of the World Cup as our president said. Everything will be discussed.
“I myself will talk to Mashrafe after the practice session starts on July 10. As far as I know, the president will also talk to him before the meeting. This is just a normal procedure indeed,” Akram concluded.
According to the close of sources of the Narail Express Mashrafe, the fast bowler himself wants to play the next World Cup before retiring from the cricket. But if the board decides to appoint somebody else as captain for the next World Cup, Mashrafe thinks his position as player in the team will be vulnerable and it would prompt him to retire instantly like the way he retired from the T20 format
