BCB to resume domestic cricket
If Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka doesn’t progress further, the board will resume the domestic cricket very soon , confirmed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon. BCB has issued a notification to refrain from all forms of sports due to the outbreak of corona virus. The corona infection has eased a bit but is not completely gone yet hence the board hopes to resume soon.
Due to the coronavirus, neither the domestic league nor the national team has seen playing cricket since March. Though the national team was scheduled to start playing in the Sri Lanka series, there was uncertainty about the domestic league. Finally, BCB President hinted to resume the cricket soon.
The Dhaka Premier League was suspended after one round of play last March. Meanwhile, if the Sri Lanka series is not proceed further, the domestic league will start soon. Papon said,
“If Sri Lanka series doesn’t proceed further we will bring domestic cricket back. We don’t know yet whether we will play (international) with anyone from outside. We will start domestic cricket very soon. (In response to the question whether it is DPL or not at the beginning) I am not telling you what to do now. But we will do something. We will return to cricket and very soon.”
Meanwhile, if the game returns on the field, all kinds of cricket will start by following the hygiene rules. Cricketers and coaching staff will be ensured the safety first.
The board president said, “The players have been out of the field for so long. We will bring them into the game. Although , we can’t manage all the clubs. As far as we can manage, we will do it with as many people as we can. There could be 40 players or there could be 60 players. We also need to ensure their safety and security during the Coronation. But in sha Allah the game will be played on the field soon.”
