Bangladesh pacer Rubel Hossain who was prevented from boarding a flight to South Africa with the Bangladesh tour squad, is likely to be replaced if he doesn’t get clearance soon.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media committee chairman Jalal Yunus has informed the media that there is a possibility to send Rubel’s alternative to join with the team in South Africa.
“Still, Rubel is confirmed to go. If the problem is not resolved at the end, then we have to think about the alternative,” Jalal Yunus was quoted as saying.
“In that case, we will prefer team management’s decision. If they want then BCB will send an alternative player”, he added.
Rubel who has taken 32 wickets from 24 Tests with one five-wicket haul, has already missed the team’s three- day warm-up match at Benoni near Johannesburg which begins today.
To be noted, Bangladesh will also play three one-day internationals and two Twenty20s during their month-long tour, their first to South Africa since 2008.
