Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has recently signed up as an ambassador with sports media, a gambling platform associated with online media. There has been intense discussion about this for 2 days in the cricket arena of the country. Even in events like cricket, Bangladesh law is against betting. So there are thousands of questions about Shakib's partnership.
This time, Shakib's pairing with Betwinner News, an online media, became a topic of discussion in the BCB meeting. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said that Shakib did not take BCB's permission before signing a contract with this organization.
He said, “There is no question of taking our permission. Because we won't allow it. If there is betting, we will not allow it. It means he didn't ask us for permission.”
However, BCB wants to look into the matter before taking any action regarding Shakib's contract. That is why a show-cause notice has also been asked to be sent. Papon added, “I need to know whether the agreement was made or not. The matter came up in today's meeting. We said - it is not possible in any way. How is it? Quickly find out if it really happened. If anything like that happens, notice will be sent.”
However, the board will not allow the cricketers to be involved with any gambling or betting related organization - Papon further said, “How is this possible. The board will not approve it in any way. But it can’t happen also. Such words have also appeared on the board. We can't decide anything with ‘maybe’. But the position of the board is very clear. It's not possible at all.”
