Big blow for Lahore Qalanders as Hafeez ruled out of PSL
Lahore Qalandars franchise on Monday in a press released confirmed the news that the team captain Mohammad Hafeez has been ruled out for the rest of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). It has been learnt that Hafeez picked up an injury during Qalandars’ fixture against Karachi Kings on Saturday.
Initially it was expected that Hafeez’s condition was far away from danger but the test reports further revealed that his thumb was fractured and hence he needs surgery to revive himself. This means that he will be out of cricketing action upto one and a half months.
Hafeez will be out for 4-6 weeks:
“Tests revealed that his thumb was fractured and he needs surgery. Subsequently, he will be out of action for 4 to 6 weeks. Hafeez is being released from the Qalandars squad and a replacement will be sought to cover his place,” said the statement by Lahore Qalandars.
Team manager and franchise COO Sameen Rana expressed disappointment at the recent news. He then wished Hafeez a speedy recovery.”This is extremely disappointing for us that Hafeez has been injured and won’t be available to Qalandars for the tournament. We wish him a quick recovery and back in action soon,” Rana said.
AB de Villiers will lead the franchise in Mohammad Hafeez’s absence.
