Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s family buy LPL franchise

Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his family have bought the Kandy franchise which will take part in the upcoming Lankan Premier League (LPL).

Bollywood star Salman Khan’s brother Sohail Khan has bought the franchise where stars like Chris Gayle, Kusal Mendis and Kushal Perera will play. The tournament is scheduled to be played from November 21 to December 13. The schedule has been changed twice due to COVID-19.

Sohail Khan said in a press release that he is excited for the franchise and looking forward to enjoy the tournament. He also insisted his side has a lot of young talents along with the Universe boss Chris Gayle.

“There is lot of potential in the Lanka Premier League and we are really very happy to be part of this exciting initiative. Sri Lankan fans are very passionate about the game and I am sure they will come out in large numbers to support the team. Chris Gayle is obviously the Universal Boss, but he is not alone, we have a very good team, a good balance of youth and experience, and I am backing my team to play the final,” he said.

Apart from Gayle, experienced English fast bowler Liam Plunkett will also play for Kandy. They have also Wahab Riaz and local talent Asela Gunaratne.
