Bollywood superstar Arbaaz Khan summoned by police for IPL betting

Acclaimed actor and producer Arbaaz Khan has been summoned by the Thane police on Friday, in suspicion of being connected with Indian Premier League betting scam.

Informing Hindustan Times, senior police inspector from Thane Anti – Extortion cell Pradeep Sharma said, “During investigation, it was found that Arbaaz was being threatened by Jalan as he had lost money on one of the matches.”

Brother of infamous Bollywood celebrity Salman Khan was summoned by the police after several days of arrest of bookie Sonu Jalan alias Sonu Batla who allegedly operated both in and outside India and is reportedly have connections with underworld mafia don Dawood Ibrahim.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Jalan was in contact with Arbaaz Khan.

This is, however, not the first time Jalan has been taken by the police. In 2008, he was first arrested for betting during Indian Premier League. The police have also found pictures of him with Arbaaz Khan. The development was confirmed by Thane Police which told media that Arbaaz was in touch with IPL bookies.

“We have got the list of bookies and are verifying it with Jalan. We found the book during a search at his home. Jalan had arranged a match-fixing meeting at Dubai. The celebrity was also present at that time. We are probing to know which match was fixed and who all were involved,” Thane police officer Sharma said.
