BPL 2019-20: Syed Rasel named Dhaka Platoon bowling coach


Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) team Dhaka Platoon have appointed former Bangladesh pacer Syed Rasel as their new bowling coach for this year’s edition of BPL.

Rasel had been a part of the BPL previously, having played for Duronto Rajshahi in the 2012 season. But he was absent from then in BPL and for that he expressed his frustration many times. But this time he will coach the bowlers of Dhaka Platoon team in the upcoming season of BPL.

The 35 year-old former Bangladesh national team left-arm pacer was confirmed as the new bowling coach of the team for the upcoming edition of the popular tournament on Thursday. Syed Rasel himself confirmed the news through his official Facebook page.

He thanked Dhaka Platoon coach Mohammad Salahuddin for keeping trust on him.

“Thanks to Dhaka Platoon team officials and coach Salahuddin Sir for picking me as bowling coach at Bangabandhu BPL 2019-20,”

he posted in his official page.

Syed Rasel is quite experienced in the sector of bowling as he has over 300 wickets in his first-class career. He also has almost 87 wickets for national team. Rasel will mentor the side which bowling sector will be med by Bangladesh ODI captain and pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in addition to other top players such as experienced Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz, rising Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmusd and Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera.

This year’s BPL has been named ‘Bangabandhu BPL’ on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the father of Bengali nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The countdown to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will begin from December 8. On that day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the tournament. The tournament will be held on December 11 this year.
