BPL 2019-20: Watson arrives in Dhaka to play BPL for first time
Shane Watson arrives in Dhaka to participate in Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) for the first time in his career. He will play for Rangpur Rangers in this year’s edition of BPL.
Watson set foot at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Singapore Airlines flight at 9:55pm on Bangladesh time on Thursday.
According to Wasim Khan, who had come to the airport to welcome a foreigner or an indigenous player to Bangladesh, came to the airport on behalf of the cricket board.
Rangpur Rangers had not been in great form in the ongoing BPL. Among 20 matches, Rangpur played five matches and won just 1 match. They lost all of their first four matches.
But all the possibilities of Rangpur have been over, they have no chance of playing in the play-offs – that’s not the case. If they win at least 6 of the remaining seven matches, they will get the best four ticket. Although it may seem daunting, Rangpur Rangers are not giving up.
And that’s why they’d hired Watson to increase their strength before going to the second phase of Dhaka. The Aussie star will also start against the Khulna Tigers on Friday, which will begin at 7pm.
