Former Australian left-arm wrist spin bowler is best known for his analysis of the gentleman’s game. Every now and then, he analyses the game and comes up with his own opinion.
As the 14th edition of the IPL was suspended due to coronavirus pandemic, the former lower-order left-handed batsman picked the best IPL 2021 XI based on their performances so far.
Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan were by far the best opening pair in the IPL as they provided explosive starts to the game. Dhawan is the current Orange Cap holder with 380 runs while Shaw is the fourth leading run-scorer with 308 runs. It was no surprise seeing them in Hogg’s XI as opening pair.
Sanju Samson also played really well in the tournament where he scored 277 runs. He is the fifth-leading run-getter and has been slotted at No.3 whereas Hogg named Rishabh Pant as the captain and wicket-keeper batsman. Under Pant’s tutelage, Delhi Capitals are the current table-toppers.
AB de Villiers who has been a vital cog in RCB’s batting unit has been slotted at No.5 whereas CSK players Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran are the two all-rounders who earned a place in Hogg’s XI.
Hogg picked 2 spinners and 2 pacers in his XI. The three spinners include the likes of SRH’s Rashid Khan, MI’s Rahul Chahar. The two pacers include DC’s Avesh Khan and MI’s Jasprit Bumrah.
