Bumrah becomes leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is
Indian right-arm fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah becomes the leading the wicket-taker for the Indian team in the T20I format at the end of the third T20I against Sri Lanka.
India outclassed Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I of the three-match T20I series between both nations. India batted first and scored 201 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, the visitors managed to score only 123 before they were bowled out by the Indian bowlers. In the end, India comfortably won the game by 78 runs.
It was an all-around performance by the Indian team. Jasprit Bumrah who made a comeback in the series scalped a wicket and achieved the record for the leading wicket-taker for India in the format. Danushka Gunathilaka was the 100th scalp for Bumrah in the format.
The fast bowler tied up with Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin before the start of the game with 52 wickets. With the wicket of Gunathilaka Bumrah gained the top spot in the chart.
Bumrah also overtook Mustafizur Rahman, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine and Graeme Swann in the overall list of highest wicket-takers in the format which is led by Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga.
Jasprit Bumrah was out of action for some months due to the low stress fracture he sustained before the start of the home Test series against South Africa. In the last game against Sri Lanka, the fast bowler also regaine his rhythm with the bowling.
