Bumrah heaps praise on Malinga, terms as ‘best yorker bowler in the world’
India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s inch-perfect yorker is a nightmare for batsmen. However, Bumrah himself has said that Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga is the best yorker bowler in the world. The Sri Lankan T20 captain is considered by many to be the master of teaching Bumrah a yorker.
Malinga and Bumrah played for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Malinga has mastered the young Indian fast bowler the yorker art in IPL. Bumrah has always admitted that. He said on the Mumbai Indians’ Twitter handle on Thursday that Malinga is the best in yorker sector. “Malinga is the best yorker bowler in the world and has used it for such a long period of time to the best of his advantage,” Bumrah said.
Bumrah recently also commented on the post-coronavirus situation cricket on the ICC website. He said the attitude of the festival may change. One can’t hug or ‘high five’. He has no problem with that. But he has questions about how to polish the ball to make it swing. “I don’t know what guidelines we’ll have to follow when we come back, but I feel there should be an alternative. If the ball is not well maintained, it’s difficult for the bowlers.
“The grounds are getting shorter and shorter, the wickets are becoming flatter and flatter. So we need something, some alternative for the bowlers to maintain the ball so that it can do something — maybe reverse in the end or conventional swing,” the 26-year old pacer said.
