Bumrah to miss 4th Test due to personal reasons

BCCI has announced 17-member India squad for the fourth Test against England in Ahmedabad, where Jasprit Bumrah will miss out.

Bumrah ruled out of Brisbane Test

India will miss Bumrah’s services due to ‘personal reasons’. This leaves the hosts to pic either of Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav for the final Test match.

Bumrah was required to bowl only six overs (first innings) in the D/N third Test in Ahmedabad which lasted only two days. Spinners starred in the match as India walked past with a ten-wicket win in chasing 49 runs.

Bumrah took four wickets in the first Test in Chennai, and was rested for the second at the same venue.

The fourth Test begins from March 4 at world’s largest cricket stadium. India are leading the series 2-1 but they must not lose in order to clinch final spot with New Zealand in the World Test Championship 2019-21.

England have no chance of making it to the Lord’s final in June. An England win in the fourth game will see Australia making their way to the final against Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand.

India squad for the fourth Test: Virat Kohli (captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav.
