Bangladesh is about to start the second cycle of ICC Test Championship. With the first match of the two-match Test series against Pakistan, the Tigers will start this year's Test Championship mission in Chattogram.
Bangladesh did not do well in the first round of the Test Championship. Desperate to turn around, the Tigers are starting the second round with a youthful team. That team will be missing the presence of senior cricketers like Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad.
Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam are also ruled out due to injury. The absence of many key figures, and a horrendous run of form in International Cricket makes this Test Series even more challenging for the Tigers.
Presumably these two cricketers are Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Yasir Ali Rabbi - who are eyeing their debut in the Chattogram Test. Under-19 World Cup-winning batter Mahmudul may have to shoulder the responsibility of opening. Rabbi, who has been with the national team for a long time, can finally get a place in the middle order.
Before the match, Pakistan captain Babar Azam praised Bangladesh. On the other hand, Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque said that his team will play with the aim of winning. But it is to be noted that the Tigers have not won a single match in the previous cycle of the Test Championship.
However, the Bangladesh team wants to turn around with a relatively inexperienced team. Mominul also promised that in this series, it will be understood where Bangladesh will reach in the next Test. All in all, this match is a 'fresh' start for Bangladesh.
