Can Pakistan take revenge for group stage loss?
Pakistan, the men in green are looking to take some revenge on their neighbors and arch rivals, India for the humble defeat by Pakistan in the group stage, in yet another big clash on 23rd September in Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.
India vs Pakistan is been a highly rated game in the history of the game. Nowadays its hard to see the rivalry game due to the political issues between both nations. But now it will be a delighting news for the cricket fans as both nations are set to clash again in the super four stage of the Asia Cup 2018.
Both India and Pakistan are said to have equal chances of lifting the trophy in the tournament. With all these things going around, both the teams met in the same venue three days ago. In that game men in blue had full dominance over their rivals in all the departments as they won the game by 8 wickets comfortably.
Including this win, Indians are having an unbeaten tournament so far in the three games they played. In the last two games Indian bowlers did a nice job by bowling out Pakistan and Bangladesh under 200 and that made the job more easier for their batsmen. Ravindra Jadeja’s comeback have boosted the momentum for men in blue.
The three spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal along with the part timers Kedar Jadhav will be a big threat for Pakistan in the slow pitch of Dubai International Stadium. And the form of Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will be a big positive for team India.
Otherwise there will be no issue in the Indian dressing room unless any injury issues make a threat like what happened two days ago. Rohit Sharma will be looking to play with the same men who have beaten Bangladesh in same venue.
In Pakistan camp, they have to do some corrections in a mean time to take on their rivals. Even though Pakistan won the game against Afghanistan their batting lie up looks to be repaired. The lower order batsmen have failed to perform in both games against India and Afghanistan. And their left handed opener Fakhar Zaman has to step up as the team needs him more in the crucial game.
Another worry for Pakistan is their death over bowling. They conceded too many runs in the last ten overs against Afghanistan compared to the runs conceded in first 40 overs. With Indians with a deep batting line up that is another one to be re-assed in the Pakistan camp.
Obviously there will be some changes in the Pakistan’s playing XI. Shadab Khan is expected to be fit for this huge game. The leggie failed the fitness test to miss the previous game and Pakistan missed him a lot against Afghanistan. If Shadab Khan comes back, leggie Mohammad Nawaz has to make way for him.
Haris Sohail looked under-cooked and should get another opportunity to showcase his talent against India. Mohammad Amir will continue to sit on the sidelines with the youngster Shaheen Afridi doing well on his ODI debut. The 18-year-old cranked up 140 kph pace with the ball and will be tipped to give a tough time to the arch-rivals.
