Chakravarthy shares his Covid story, praises Shah Rukh Khan
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy has shared the story before he’s tested positive for Covid-19 and after journey of the positive test. Chakravarthy was one of the first players to test Covid-19 positive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
After Chakravarthy, few more players, coaches and groundstaff were also tested positive for Covid-19 and the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) suspended IPL 2021 immediately.
The 29-year old spinner said that he felt tired after the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and also had little fever. He then immediately quarantined and went under Covid-19 test which came as positive.
“As to how it all started, I felt something was slightly off on May 1. I felt tired. There was no cough whatsoever, but I had little fever, so I didn’t attend our training session. I immediately informed the team management and they arranged for an RT-PCR test quickly. I was immediately quarantined and isolated, away from the rest of my KKR teammates, in a separate wing of the hotel. Soon, I found out that I’d tested positive,” Chakravarthy said during an interaction with ESPNCricinfo.
He also added that KKR team management was much supportive as one stayed back with him till the recovery despite everyone went to home after the suspension of IPL. Even team’s co-owner Shah Rukh Khan also motivated all talking to them.
“The KKR franchise was very supportive. They went to the extent of even having someone from the team management stay back with me, even after the IPL was postponed and left only after I returned two negative tests and got back home. Shah Rukh Khan spoke to all the players individually and motivated us,” Chakravarthy signed off.
