‘Champions Trophy will not be the end for Mashrafe’, says Board President
As rumors floating around Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s retirement from international cricket, Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Nazmul Hasan Papon blew away the possibility of Mashrafe’s retirement after the ICC Champions Trophy in June. While talking to the media in Sri Lanka, BCB Chief said, “In modern days it is rare to find such passion and sacrifice like the way Mashrafe has done till to date. He is an incredible leader.”
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza announced his retirement from T20I cricket during the time he went for flipping the coin in the first T20I match of the series against Sri Lanka. The Tiger captain stated he had took the decision to make place for the young guns in the team.
Nazmul Hasan said, “Mashrafe is such a cricketer whose name will be remembered in Bangladesh cricket forever. Everyone will miss him if he will not there. There is no doubt that Bangladesh will be benefitted as long as he keeps playing.”
The board President expressed his astonishment watching an image of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s bandaged knee on which he has been kept running for the country that gone viral in the social media, “I am surprised, I never knew he has been playing like this.”
However Nazmul Hasan Papon said Champions Trophy will not be the end for Mashrafe’s career, “I thought he might retire after the Champions Trophy. But now I think he will be able to play for more days to come.”
