Charles receives NOC to play in LPL 2020

West Indian wicket-keeper batsman Johnson Charles has been given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by his home board (Cricket West Indies) to participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

Confirming the news, Saranga Wijeyarathne, the team’s Media Director said, “The 31-year-old St. Lucian is already on his way to Colombo and is expected to arrive early morning on 26th November.”

Charles is a replacement for Ravi Bopara, who pulled out from the tournament for his personal reasons.

On arrival in Hambantota Charles will be quarantined and miss his team’s initial matches of the tournament.

The Jaffna Stallions team had a practice session at the Stadium’s training complex on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, there is some good news for the Gladiators franchise.

Former Pakistani captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi did not miss flight on Tuesday and was on his way to Hambantota on the same day.

Five teams based on various Sri Lankan cities will play a total of 23 matches starting from November 26 and the final of the tournament will be held on December 16.
