Chattogram lose two more stars

Chattogram Challengers have so far been in great rhythm in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League, but as a squad they seem to be going out of luck. After conceding Mahmudullah Riyad once again due to hamstring injury, there are two more players in line to leave the side.

Chattogram will be missing out on the services of Caribbean cricketers Lendl Simmons and Kesrick Williams, as they will soon bow out of the tournament because of their national duties. Both the players were regular feature from the onset of the season.

Apart from the goodbye from two Caribbeans, the port city team has to deal with some more problems. After Dhaka Platoon, they too have now been hit by the blow of viral fever, which can possibly make a couple of players sit out in the coming matches. And one player in the form of Madmudullah will be surely absent for next two matches due to his injury.

Chattogram head coach Paul Nixon met the press on Sunday to address the current troublesome situation of his team. He said, “Kesrick Williams and Lendl Simmons are going back. Now we must bring some changes to out squad. Some players of the side are also sick. Nasum (Ahmed) could not join the training. 3 or 4 more players are also suffering from viral fever. We want every player fresh and fit.”

He said regarding Mahmudullah, “It is a great achievement for us to find victories even without Mahmudullah. He might not be in the next match as well. International cricketers have to face such reality.”

Chattogram will play their next match against Cumilla Warriors on December 31. In the Sylhet plase, their sole match will be against Khulna Tigers on January 4, 2020. Mahmudullah will miss both the matches. However, Chattogram will be lucky to get Chris Gayle in the last two games of the round robin league.
