Chennai Super Kings have announced Scott Kuggeleijn for injured Ngidi
Current champion Chennai Super Kings have named New Zealand bowling all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi in the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 27-year old Kuggeleijn is quite experienced in the shortest format of the game. He has been played the New Zealand domestic cricket since 2012. Till now he completed 75 matches in his T20 career and took 67 wickets while scored 454 runs in batting.
He also made debut in the national team also. He made his ODI debut against Ireland in 2017 and T20 debut against Sri Lanka earlier this year in January. He played 2 ODIs and 4 T20s for his senior team.
Earlier, Lungi Ngidi suffered a side strain while bowling during the last ODI against Sri Lanka. Then the scans report revealed that he was suffered from Grade II muscle strain and he was needed upto four weeks to overcome the injury. So, he ruled out of the IPL 2019 for the whole season. Ngidi was set to play for CSK for which franchise he played the last season also.
Just after the news of David Willey’s omission from this year’s IPL due to the birth of his second child, Chennai announced the replacement of Ngidi. However, they haven’t announced the Willey’s replacement yet.
Chennai Super Kings will play their next match against Rajasthan Royals at home tomorrow.
