Chopra picked Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Faf du Plessis and Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Jos Buttler for the opening slot. Du Plessis was consistent since the start of the season and was tournament’s third highest run-scored before it was suspended. He scored 320 runs in 7 matches with an average of 64.0.

While Buttler also showed his form and played a fantastic 124-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). “I have picked Faf du Plessis first. He has batted amazingly well, scored runs consistently, and at a good pace. I think with him will be Jos Buttler. His real form was seen in the 124-run knock against SRH. He was a little hot and cold before that but it was not that he was getting out for five runs. He scored a few forties and the century came after that,” said Chopra on his YouTube Channel.

The he opted for CSK’s Moeen Ali and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Glenn Maxwell for the No.3 and No.4 slot. Both the all-rounders made a significant contribution for their team and played some match-winning innings. After that, RCB’s AB de Villiers and Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Kieron Pollard will bat at No. 5 and No. 6 in Chopra’s team.

Chopra then picked Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Andre Russell and RR’s Chris Morris at No.7 and No.8. Although Russell didn’t fire with batting, Chopra thought that the West Indies all-rounder batted at lower-order, still played some good innings. While Morris also contributed with both batting and bowling.

The 43-year old Chopra expressed confusion about No. 8 slot as he toiled much to pick between CSK’s Sam Curran and KKR’s Pat Cummins. At the end, he went for Curran because of the value of the money. “I was confused between Pat Cummins and Sam Curran, I am going with Sam Curran for the simple reason that he is value for money. He does better than his abilities,” he said.

For the last two slot, it was a no-brainer pick for Chopra as he picked SRH’s Rashid Khan and MI’s Trent Boult in his XI.
