Chopra picks top 6 bowling spells of IPL 2021
The IPL 2021 has been suspended by the BCCI for an indefinite time and the fans are curiously waiting to know when the tournament would resume. As per several sources, BCCI is looking at the September window to finish the tournament this year itself.
If they don’t complete the tournament in time they would incur huge losses up to Rs 2,500 crores. So far, 29 games have been played in the 14th edition and the bowlers did have great moments during the tournament.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and current cricket analyst Aakash Chopra picked the top 6 bowling performances by bowlers so far. RCB started their campaign with plenty of grit and determination and a lot of credit and appreciation goes to seamer Harshal Patel.
He is the owner of Purple Cap with 17 wickets in 7 games and Aakash Chopra picked his best bowling figures of 5/27 in the first game against Mumbai Indians as the best bowling spell of the league.
He also became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians. “At No.1 is my favourite bowling performance of the season so far, I have picked Harshal Patel. It came in the first match against Mumbai (5/27).
You have a four-over spell and there if you take five wickets, that too while coming at the end. He bowled very good slower ones and perfect yorkers,” said Chopra in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
As far as the second spot is concerned, Chopra picked Harpreet Brar’s match-winning spell of 3/19 in the game between PBKS and RCB. Harpreet who was riding high on confidence took the wickets of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell to PBKS to victory.
Chopra picked Deepak Chahar’s 4/13 against PBKS as the third-best bowling performance this season. CSK pacer dismissed Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran and also bowled a maiden over.
Aakash Chopra chose Chris Morris’s four-wicket haul against the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders as the fourth-best bowling performance. After that, he picked Andre Russell’s spell of 5/15 against Mumbai Indians. Last but not the least, Rahul Chahar has been picked by Chopra. The spinner got rid of KKR’s top-four batters to assist his team clinch a low-scoring encounter.
