Clinical Rohit outclasses Bangladesh to level series
Rohit Sharma’s storming knock blew Bangladesh away to level the three-match series 1-1 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
In reply to Bangladesh’s score of 153, Rohit hammered 85 off just 43 balls to make his 100th T20I for India memorable. Shikhar Dhawan also supported him well with a steady knock of 31 from 27. The openers made the chase all too easy and after their departure, Shreyas Iyer (24*) and Lokesh Rahul (8*) took India over the line.
Leg-spinner Aminul Islam was the only bright star in the dark show for Bangladesh as he picked up the wickets of opener Dhawan and Rohit.
Earlier, Bangladesh had a brilliant start with the bat after Rohit opted to field first. Liton Das (29) and Naim Sheikh (36) put 60 runs in the opening stand. Soumya Sarkar also chipped in with a quickfire knock of 30.
But the team collapsed in the middle overs courtesy of some tight bowling from Chahar and Chahal. Hosts India restricted them to 153 in the end.
