Comilla Victorians clinch thrilling victory against Dhaka Dynamites


After a complete turn around from the bowlers, Comilla Victorians stunned the home side Dhaka Dynamites to seal a crucial victory in match number 26 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Dhaka Dynamites’ skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss for the second match in a row and he opted to field first. Comilla lost Anamul early while Tamim departed after a steady knock of 34 from 29.

Skipper Imrul Kayes (7) failed with the bat once again and the scoreboard was going no where for the Victorians. Shamsur Rahman (48) came to the rescue and played a handy knock and with Thisara Perera’s cameo of 26 from 12 balls took the men in red to a fighting total of 153 runs.

Shakib once again showed his tremendous performance with the ball as he picked up three wickets and also reached to an amazing feat of taking 100 wickets in BPL.

In reply, the home side found themselves in all sorts of trouble as the top-order departed without contributing much. After being 50-4, Shakib (20) and Andre Russell (46) crawled back Dhaka to the game and they were looking well set to take their side over the line.

But the match had twists and thrills to offer in the end as the match took a turn once again after the duo gifted their wicket away. Shuvagata and Nurul also departure playing reckless shots, while a fantastic death bowling from Perera made sure that Comilla walks away with a 7-run win in the end.
