Competition will move Bangladesh forward: Anamul
Top-order batsman Anamul Haque believes that competition among players for positions in the team will help Bangladesh to move ahead in future.
Anamul found his slot back in the side in tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in January this year. But he got dropped in the Final which Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka.
Soumya Sarkar, the other opener, is not having a good time with the bat in limited overs cricket. The competition for the opening slot increased with Liton Das making some good start to the innings in Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.
Anamul sees the competition in a rather positive way. “Competition is a necessity and it will help Bangladesh cricket move forward. With competition, the performances will come out and that is a good thing for Bangladesh cricket,” he said.
“Competition is good and what we want are those who perform well and on a consistent basis and they should feature for Bangladesh cricket.”
The wicket-keeper batsman thinks performing in domestic cricket is vital to do well in international cricket.
“Habit of scoring runs in very important for a batsman just as wicket-taking is important for bowlers. Whether in international scene or domestic cricket, confidence is high when you are among the runs.
“Luck might favour you or sometimes it may not. But international players come up after doing well in domestic circuit. So, one has to prepare for international cricket with domestic cricket,” he added.
