Cricketers complete Yo-Yo test trial, Al-Amin shows surprise
Time will tell how much impact the Yo-Yo test will have on Bangladesh cricket. But for now, cricketers are sweating their heads off. The test has been remarked as mandatory for the cricketers before the Bangabandhu T20 Cup which is scheduled to start from this month.
Before the main task, cricketers completed the trial of Yo-Yo test on Monday (November 2) in Mirpur. They gasped at the end of the fitness test trial.
It is normal to get short of breath after any fitness test. But unlike others, Yo-Yo test is much complex and difficult to complete. Players have to achieve a mark like Beep test. Although the benchmark is not same everywhere. In India it’s 16.1 whereas in Pakistan and Sri Lanka it’s 17.4 and in England and New Zealand it’s 19.
On Monday, the benchmark of Yo-Yo test was set at 17-18. Cricketers completed the task with much difficulties but fast-bowler Al-Amin Hossain showed surprise. He scored 22.1.
However, the BCB has not confirmed which day the final Yo-Yo test will be held.
