CSK back to winning form, rise to top

After suffering loss in the previous game Chennai Super Kings have sniffed a 13-run victory against Delhi Daredevils at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune in the 30th match of Vivo Indian Premier League 2018. CSK are currently the table-toppers.


Delhi Daredevils sent CSK to bat first. Chennai took the chance and put up a massive score on board with 211/4. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis – CSK’s new opening partnership gave a flying start with 102 runs.

du Plessis played a rather slow innings, run-a-ball 33 as Amit Mishra brought DD’s first wicket. Suresh Raina got out soon. In-form Watson fell short of another hundred in this tournament. He slammed 78 runs off 40 deliveries including 4 fours and 7 sixes.

Ambati Rayudu and skipper MS Dhoni added a quick 79 for the fourth-wicket. Rayudu made 24-ball 41. Dhoni hit his fifty in 22 balls. He scored unbeaten 51 hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes.

CSK set DD a bit target of 212 runs to win. In reply, Delhi lost wickets early. Colin Munro, captain Shreyas Iye did not get going not even Glenn Maxwell. They 4 wickets for 74 runs.

Risabh Pant put on a show with Vijay Shankar in a 88-run stand for the fifth-wicket. Pant, who has had a good IPL so far, smashed 79 runs off 45 deliveries including 7 fours and 4 sixes. Delhi’s hopes were shattered as he was dismissed in the 18th over.

Shankar’s cameo 54* off 31 including a four 5 sixes went in vain as the Daredevils managed 198/5 in 20 overs. KM Asif took two wickets for 43 in 3 overs. Apart from other expensive bowlers, debutant Lungi Ngidi took 1 for 26.
