CSK likely to retain Raina for IPL 2021


Former Indian left-handed batsman Suresh Raina is likely to be retained by Chennai Super Kings for the IPL 2021, despite the issues between the both parties happened earlier.

Chennai Super Kings had a poor IPL season in the United Arab Emirates, a couple of months back. For the first time the franchise failed to qualify for playoffs in the history of the T20 league. Apart from that, there had been few controversies around the team throughout the tournament.

The major one was the exist of their iconic player Suresh Raina from this year’s edition of the league. He cited the personal reasons to leave back for India from UAE. But later it was known that there was a rift between the player and team management, before the tournament. Even the owner, N Srinivasan was also a bit harsh on the player in some interviews.

The issue has raised concern over Suresh Raina’s future in the franchise. Some reports suggested that the former Indian cricketer will lead the new IPL franchise if it comes. Now it looks like the franchise is not to part with the player and the journey will continue for the former Indian cricketer with his most favourite IPL franchise.

An official from the franchise revealed it to Mumbai Mirror. “He will be with us. There are no plans to part with him,” the official quoted. This will be a definite boost for the franchise, after having a terrible season. His availability will answer some questions the franchise is having at the moment.

The cricketer recently caught up in a controversy after violating the COVID-19 norms. The official quoted that it won’t be a matter of concern for the team. “We have only read about the arrest. Our plans have nothing to do with that development. He will continue to be with us,” the franchise official said.
